A little more than a week ago, since the weather was honestly quite perfect and me, my sister and my dad were matching days off, we decided to go for a little adventure to the north, to be with nature.

I've been saying at home that I really wanted to go explore the Gerês. Everyone talks about how beautiful it is and how nature just soaks you in, so I wanted to experience that. I just didn't know that the park was that big. But I can confirm that it is indeed so relaxing and a fun outgoing.

Unfornately we only had two days, and you need a lot more to explore the vast area, however I still feel like it was a successful trip. We left Lisbon at 7a.m., arrived at Peneda-Gerês National Park around 11:30am. And our first stop was one of the most strangest houses, a Casa do Penedo.

We left Gerês on the next day around 7p.m.. Stop at Braga to eat some delicious veggie francesinha, and arrived at home at around midnight.

~~

I don't go very often to nature to just walk and absorb the earth sensations. However, when I do it, I really enjoy it. Last week, I went to the Gerês National Park and I definitely got in touch with nature. Be aware that I just go for a walk, I don't really have nice equipment for hiking, therefore the change on the tittle.

I was there for two days, consequently I only have two outfits. Plus, they are quite similar, so I actually think it's a good way to take a general idea of what to wear for a walk through nature.

~~

For my first day, I tried to go for more a sportive and relax vibe. I chose a larger t-shirt, underneath a sports bra and biker shorts. The colour choice came with the shorts, it wasn't really a decision. However, I feel like it's a nice one, rust orange / brick, because it goes with the earthy tones. For the shoes, I used my memory foam sneakers, that even though they don't have a great grip (I found out that there), they are very comfortable.

~~

On the second day, it was very hot so I decided to go for a more breezy look. Underneath the outfit, I wore a bikini, because we were going to the waterfall. On top, I chose a white crop top so it didn't catch the sunlight and for the bottoms some black active shorts. Because they are more on the cotton texture, they are very comfortable. I used the same sneakers as the previous day.

Since I didn't know if it was going to get more chilly, I brought a oversized flannel shirt with me. And I also chose to bring a backpack, because it was more convinient for the hikes.

~~

As you may know by now, I don't necessarily have my rest days on the weekend. It may happen, but most of the times are on week days. Therefore, saturdays are not always just fun and games for me. Luckly, I don't work a lot of hours, but I like to feel like I'm being productive all day.

My mornings are not exactly the same all days that I do the afternoon shift, that's why I'm mentioning saturday. It's how my moring went today.

~~

7a.m.

Even though I'm only going to work at 4pm, I try to wake up early. Today, I had a group run, so I wake up at 7am to get ready and be at the spot a little before 8:30, that it's when we start running. We ended at around 10am, we only did 11km, but it always extends a little bit because we also want to be with each other and talk.

~~

11a.m.

It was a beautiful hot day outside, but it was time to get home. When I got home, I went straight to the shower. It was only after washing my body and hair that I did my morning skincare routine. I put on some comfortable clothes, just to wear around the house, and went to the kitchen to do something to eat.

11:30a.m.

Since I already arrived a bit late, I didn't do a big breakfast, just something to get me through until lunch time. I decided for a croissant and obviously my cup of coffee. It's not very healthy, but it is delicious. I also took this opportunity to, while eating, catch up on social media.

~~

12p.m.

Even though we could already consider it lunch time, I take another hour to work on some stuff. Today, I worked on the blog and also on my freelance job. Believe it or not, I do stay working for that whole hour and it passes way to quickly.

Also, before actually start working, I wrote my to do list since I didn't do it last night.

~~

Meio-dia

1p.m.

It sometimes passes some minutes, okay? It's not an exact hour, but around this time we start to set the table for lunch. In our family we do take some time eating, since we have coffee, desert and we just stay there talking or watching something on the tv.

~~

13 horas

Algumas vezes passam uns minutos, okay?

2:15p.m

Strangely, I don't get ready right away. I actually first like to go to the computer or tv to watch something. As of now, I'm still watching the third season of The Great, I'm on episode 6. As you may guess, I only have time for one. I'm actually quite enjoying the show, I don't know why it took me so long to watch this new season.

~~

14:15

Estranhamente, não vou logo despachar-me. Neste momento, estou a ver a terceira temporada de The Great, estou no episódio 6.

3p.m.

After it, I'm probably almost late, so I really need to get ready. I do my makeup, that it does take some time, since I like to do fun eyeliners nowadays. And I also get dress for work, in my case, I actually have a uniform so I don't have to decided what to wear.

3:30p.m.

It's finally time to go to work. I always like to be there 15 minutes before, so I get time to relax a little bit, maybe go to the bathroom and also chat a little bit with some co-workers.

~~

15 horas.

Just like I promised in my previous post, here it is a vlog showing you how my week went: attending MOTELX and at the same time while going to work. Not worth mentioning that it was a chaotic last week.

I do am a bit sad that I couldn't go to that many movies, but I sure made my time there, and what I had, worth it. I experienced for the first time the midnight session! Obviously, I also was very mindful of my time, since I had to keep in mind that I was going to wake up early on the next day.

My routine one these days were basically wakeup for my usual workout or run training, go to work in the afternoon and speed up to Cinema São Jorge for another day at the cinema festival.

With that said, here are some clips of my nights at MOTELX. If you want to know in detail what I wore and my opinions on the movies I watched, please check out my other post.

~~

Unfortunately I couldn’t volunteer like last year because of work, but I still manage to go to some days and watch a few movies. You will see how that week went in a couple of days, in my next post, but for now I will share with you the outfits I wore and after maybe seven years bring back to the blog the typical movie reviews.

~~

12th of September - day one of the festival

You won’t be alone

I believe you can't be spoiled about this film, no matter what I say, because it's all about the feels. In short, it takes place in the 19th century and it is about a young witch that accidentally kills someone and decided to see what life is like in her skin.

My score is a 2.5 out of 5. I have very mixed feelings about it. Technically speaking, it was a great movie. Story wise also good, but no that engaging for me. What I really didn't like and it through me off was caracterizing it as horror. Yes, it is a bit gruesome, but the rest is kinda boring.

It was interesting in the first half. The cinematography and message behind it was quite beautiful, but then it just couldn't hold me through the whole film. At some point it seem, in my point of view that they tried to make a slice o life movie into horror, and that doesn’t makes sense to me.

But it is a polarizing film, because my sister loved it. So, take this opinion however you like.

Run Rabbit Run

This one is your basic a little bit indie, but also mainstream type of horror movie. It is about a mother that it is challenged by an increasingly strange behavior of her young daughter. In this journey she is forced to face ghosts from the past.

I give it a 3 out of 5. At first thought I gave it a half star more, but now, a few days later I can see that it is a bit forgetable. Because of how basic it is. And that's the thing it is a good movie, but nothing happens that is memorable.

I like it more than the previous one just because it was more entertaining and it captivated me during the whole film. However, it is predictable. It does make you scared nonetheless, you'll be on the edge of your seat for couple times. Plus, the acting and actors choice is incredible. It has that annoying effect.

I would recommend you watch it, however keep it in mind that it's not the most original.

~~

You won’t be alone

Nesta jornada ela é forçada a enfrentar fantasmas do passado.

No entanto, é previsível.

15th of September - day four of the festival

Infinity Pool

I was so excited for this one. From the get go, I said that if I could only see a movie, I would go see this one. It is about a couple that is staying at an isolated island resort. When they venture outside the walls off the resort they are encountered by a culture filled with violence, hedonism and horror.

I give it a score of 4 out of 5. I will admit that it was not what I expected, but I was not disappointed, whatsoever. To be honest, the type of horror is right up my alley. There was only two little things that I don't love, maybe a bit too comedic and a character too annoying. But I recognize that it works!

The style of shooting, the cinematography, the editing was impeccable. I love that it was jarring and it was not afraid to show it. Plus, the topic that it touches is very original. I will say that towards the end it gets repetitive.

I need to mention that was really nice to have Brandon Cronenberg there. Definitely check this one out.

Sessão Surpresa FilmTwist MOTELX

I can now say that the surprise movie was the remastered version of Ichi the Killer from Takashi Miike. In case you don't know, this movie has the reputation of being a very gross movie. It's about a sadomasochist yakuza that in his search for his boss comes across Ichi, a psychotic killer.

I'm between a 3 and 3.5 out of 5. Keep in mind that I watched this one at midnight, after a day of work and right after Infinity Pool, so I was a bit tired. But the more I think about it, the more I think I enjoyed it. Like some visual effects are kind of bad, but I understand the hype. It was entertaining.

It was a bit long for that hour, people were already a bit exausted, but I understand why midnight - it just works great. Love how extreme it is. Not only in the gross aspect, but also how it goes above and beyond in every scene. He just went all out, no filters. Again, I enjoy the cinematography and the editing style a lot.

It is gruesome, but it's from 2001, so some gross aspects were not that believable now. Maybe it is intentional. But some were very real too.

~~

Infinity Pool

Talvez seja intencional. Mas alguns eram porém muito reais.

16th of September - day five of the festival

A Semente do Mal

In english Amelia's Children, it's a portuguese horror movie. And what an incredible surprise that was. It tells the story of Edward, who's take to a house in the north of Portugal in his search to find his biological parents. But soon he finds out he is bound to a monstuous secret.

My score continues to be a 4 out of 5. My expections were not high, and maybe that played a part, but I liked it so much. It's not a super original story, but you can see that the director doesn't intended to be either. It's how it is told and showed that is compelling and interesting.

The funny aspects are definitely more targeted to the portuguese audience, but whole vibe and tension during the film and emphasized by the acting is understandable to any language. The performances are great. It's also a fact that being 80% spoke in english also helps gather more public.

The film is simple, it's your classic horror movie, but it's so well done and very enjoyable.

~~

A Semente do Mal

17th of September - day six of the festival

Mister Organ

To end this horror week at the festival, I went to see a documentary by David Farrier. This true crime stories are always so interesting. As you may know, David Farrier is a journalist and in this movie he decided to investigate some reports of fraudulent car clamping. However, things take a turn and is pushed to the limits of his sanity.

Overall, it is a 3 out 5. The premise was odd and appealing and it started very well. But as the movie went on it became repetitive. Specially towards the end. He just continue to justify the same piece of conclusion, which was even that overwhelming.

Not taking credits of the documentary that was still newsworthy, I just felt that it lacked excitement. I understand why at some point he had to back off, but it needed more. What he discovered could hold you to an extent. Then it just lost it.

Even though the whole story is incredible weird and maybe give it a shot, I wanted more.

~~

Mister Organ

Especialmente, no final.

It’s weird to think that I have not been to university for a year now and I bet a lot has changed, in terms of fashion. With all these aesthetics appearing, nowadays there is not school outfit, specially in uni, however I decided to show you a look that I would probably wear.

Mind it that I take a lot of inspiration from the light and dark academia aesthetic. I just think that is so minimalist, which is great for any wardrobe, so autumnal and a mixed of comfortable and stylish.

~~

As you can see it is still a bit sunny here in Portugal, so I didn’t exactly need a jacket. But the pieces are still great under a raincoat so don’t worry. Because back to school means autumn I really em embraced the warm, brown tones.

I decided to go for a simple faded yellow shirt that has a bit of cinching. At first sight it might look simple, which overall is, but it has cute little details in the collar that makes total difference. To pair with it I decided for a straight dad brown pants. Again, it’s comfortable but since it is suit pants it gives a more intellectual appearance. For the shoes, my beloved platform shoes to make the look edgier.

I decided to not go for a belt, because the bottom were already very snatching on the waist, but feel free to add it if you like it. To finish it up I added a short golden necklace. Even though some skin was showing because I let the collar of the shirt a bit open, I liked it. It made the outfit more light and breezy looking.

~~

A combinar escolhi umas calças dad style castanhas.

Shirt - Vintage (similar here) | Pants - Stradivarius (similar here) | Shoes - Bershka (similar here) | Necklace - Gifted (similar here)

I've been wanting to do this post for quite a while, and from time to time, through my vlogs, I would show glimpses of it, but I never truly felt that I have a solidify skincare that I was proud of showing. However, that moment arrived this month, and I believe I have a very solid skincare night routine. At least, is one that is doing really good things to my skin.

Side note worth saying: the products I'm using right now, can be not my favourites (because I also like to try new things), but I will tell you what I recommend/ are my favourites at the moment.

~~

Before starting to show you what skin products I use at night, it's important for you to know a little bit about my skin. That way you can make up if is similar to yours, if you will only take ideas of some parts, etc. In a general picture my skin type is normal, with a tendency to oily, it's not sensitive and my major concerns are dullness, acne/whiteheads and pigmentation.

~~

1st Step - Cleansing Oil / Balm

Currently I'm using a cleansing balm, the Natura Siberica White Cleansing Butter, since I bought it last year because of a trip and balms are a lot more comfortable and safe when travelling. However, I do prefer cleansing oils a lot more to remove makeup. It's easier, you tend to use less and overall just takes the makeup off better.

My favourite makeup remover is the Juice to Cleanse Grain Water Cleansing Oil (review on the blog). It doesn't burn my eyes, takes the makeup off so well and at the same time leaves it very soft and shiny. I only tried a sample, but the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Light Cleansing Oil was also really nice.

~~

O meu desmaquilhante preferido é o da Juice to Cleanse Grain Water Cleansing Oil (resenha no blog).

2nd Step - Cleanser

My cleanser right now is the SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Ampoule Foam and I'm loving it, honestly. It does not do a lot of foam, but part or not of the double cleansing method, it always leaves my skin feeling soft and cleansed. I even go another step and say it makes it radiant, a little bit. It's great against the dirty environment.

Another one that I really like is the Youth To The People - Age Prevention Superfood Cleanser, it's an almost holy grail. It's just a bit expensive.

Outro que gosto bastante é o da Youth To The People - Age Prevention Superfood Cleanser, é quase sagrado. Apenas é um pouco mais caro.

3rd Step - Exfoliant Toner

There was a time that I would alternate between exfoliant and hydrating toner, but since I use the last one in the morning and my skin is now used to acids now, I don't feel that need anymore. The one I'm using right now is the COSRX AHA 7 Whitehead Power Liquid, but as you can read on my review here in the blog, I don't love it. Which is really disappointed since whiteheads are one of my concerns and it is on the tittle.

I still don't have a favourite, so I won't recommend you one. However, Acid exfoliant is really important and much safer for your skin. For that purpose I can recommend you the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution.

4th Step - Retinol

I only introduced this ingredient this year, so I don't really have a favourite product yet. But both serums I've tried I liked it. Didn't love, but I could totally see that they made a difference for me, specially in terms of acne. Apart from those times that I'm near my period, ever since I started using retinol, I barely have any big or cystic pimple.

The product I'm using right now is the Bellflower - Retinol 0.3% Serum. But the one I first introduced and I believe it is a great starter, you just have to have patience, was the Cos De BAHA - Retinol 2.5 Serum.

5th Step - Night Moisturizer

Last step, the night moisturizer, usually thicker and with other benefits than the morning one. And I know, I don't follow the 10 step korean skincare routine, but this is simple and effective for me.

The moistuizer I'm using right now, I don't have a round opinion, but I like it so far. It's the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Enrich Cream.

The night cream is where you have more freedom. Every moisturiser I've tried has been pretty good, it really just depended on what I wanted at that particular time. A common thing I expect from it, however, is great hydrating effect, because when sleeping we waste a lot of water.

Others I'm a fan of is the Dear, Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream, for the winter season, you can read my review here. And the PURITO Dermide Cica Barrier Sleeping Pack.
