I can't keep this secret to myself anymore. Creightons Salicylic Acid Foaming Clay Cleanser came to me out of nowhere and blown me away.

I decided to buy this cleanser because I was having terrible acne and all over my face, and I simply couldn't get ride of it. So, my thinking was 'let's start my skincare all over again'. First, I stop using any product one my face for around three weeks and after that I start adding to my skincare, little by little.

Also, after much research, I understood that maybe what I would do best was using salicylic acid, because it helps remove dead skin cells, keeping the pores clean, and also reduces excess oil.

Eu não posso guardar este segredo para mim. O Salicylic Acid Foaming Clay Cleanser da Creightons chegou até mim do nada e surpreendeu-me imenso.

Decidi comprar este produto de limpeza, porque estava a ter um acne terrível e por toda a minha cara, e não me conseguia livrar dele. Então, o meu pensamento foi 'vamos começar uma rotina de pele toda de novo'. Primeiro, parei de usar qualquer produto por três semanas, e depois comecei a adicionar um a um.

Simultaneamente, depois de muita pesquisa, percebi que o que podia resultar seria ácido salicílico, porque ajuda a remover células mortas, mantendo os poros limpos, e reduz o excesso de óleo. 

I randomly bought this item at Loja Normal. And I absolutely love it. In the package it says that helps "absorb excess oil and maintain healthier, clearer looking skin" and it's so true!

Since the first moment that I start using it, that I see that my skin looks better, more radiant and I rarely (right now) have acne. For time to time, I do have one or two pimples, but I believe it's hormones, because it happens when my mood is off.

Also, I really like the fact that is clay. It was weird at first, but know that I began using it as a mask almost - meaning I put it on and leave it for awhile before rinsing it - I think it works wonders. Important to mention that I use everyday at night.

Overall, for the price, you get a super nice quality cleanser, which I do truly believe it does a good job and has been helping my skin a lot. Out of 5 stars, definitely a 3.5 score.

Eu comprei este item aleatoriamente na Loja Normal. E adorei completamente. No pacote diz que ajuda a "absorver excesso de óleo e a manter um pele mais saudável e limpa" e é tão verdade!

Desde o primeiro momento que a comecei a usar, que consigo ver que a minha pele está melhor, mais radiante e raramente tenho acne. De tempos a tempos aparece me uma ou outra borbulha, mas eu acredito que é devido a hormonas, porque aparecem quando o meu humor está diferente.

Para além disso, gosto bastante do facto de ser em argila. É estranho no início, mas depois que comecei a usar como máscara - ou seja, ponho na cara e deixo atuar uns minutos antes de enxaguar - acho que trabalha eficazmente. Mencionar que eu utilizo apenas uma vez ao dia e à noite.

No geral, para o preço, é um produto de limpeza muito bom, que eu acho mesmo que faz um grande trabalho e que me ajudou na pele. Em 5 estrelas, dou 3.5 de pontuação.

If you’ve been around for awhile and pay close attention to my skincare posts, you know that one of my biggest concerns in terms of my skin it’s the dullness and acne scars. So, as I’ve been knowing the best thing in this case is the usage of vitamin C. However, when I didn’t start seeing results or they didn’t last, I decided to research some more. I found out that for vitamin c serums to work, they have to have a percentage between 15% and 20% of vita C. And more than 15% are rare and the 15% ones are definitely more expensive. Nevertheless, for my skin it’s totally worth it.

I found this one early in the game, and even after trying others I still come back to this one. It’s the Skin&Lab Vitamin C Brightening Serum. It’s from a korean brand and it’s vegan and cruelty-free, which we love.

Para isso, uma das melhores substâncias para utilizar é vitamina C. Porém, quando eu não vi muitos resultados nem duradouros, decidi pesquisar mais um pouco. E descobri que os serums de vitamina C que usualmente resultam são os que têm uma percentagem entre 15% e 20% de vita c. E mais do que 15% é raro e os de 15% são claramente mais caros. Mesmo assim, para a minha pele valem muito a pena.

Fitness and exercise plays a big part on my life and lifestyle. The feeling of working is just surreal to me, but other thing that really helps me feel good is what I'm wearing - if I feel hot, let's use the correct words, I feel like my workout goes a lot better.

Since I started working out a lot more, I also decided to invest in better workout gear, supposedly. And that's why I'm here. To give you my opinion on Women's Best activewear, essentially, but in one or two more things since I bought them too. 

If you don't know the brand Women's Best, you are probably not in the world of fitness on social media, because it's one of the most used amongst fitness influencers. Plus, they actually have really pretty pieces.

O exercício físico tem uma grande presença na minha vida e estilo de vida. O sentimento que me proporciona é surreal. Mas algo que me motiva a praticar e que me faz sentir bem é o que tenho vestido - se me sinto sexy, vamos usar as palavras corretas, o treino tende a correr muito melhor.

Uma vez que comecei a treinar mais, decidi investir em roupa de desporto de melhor qualidade, supostamente. E é por isso que estou aqui. Para vos dar a minha opinião da roupa da Women's Best, essencialmente, mas em mais um ou duas coisas, sendo que as comprei.

Se não conhecem a marca Women's Best, provavelmente não estão dentro do mundo fitness nas redes sociais, porque é uma das mais usadas entre as influencers. Para mais que têm peças muito giras.

The things I tried on was two sets of workout clothes - from different collections - a booty band and an energy drink, that came as a freebie. It's important to say that I used these pieces several times and in different types of workouts, such as yoga, pilates, HIIT and run too, and I have washed them too.

Unfortunately, for the price that it is, I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting it to be a little better. I have to say, beforehand, that I'm not really sure if I choose the right sizing since it's a bit tight but I feel like it shouldn't bother too much when it comes to performance.

Firstly, I only tried shorts, which is what I like to wear so I don't know if their leggings are better or not. However in terms of the shorts, I wanted them to be a little better. They fit really nice, the material is great and the ones that are supposed to define the butt, really do that, but when it comes to working out with them, it's just not super comfortable for one single reason: they start rolling up, a lot.

And it could've be just when running, because they're not made for it, but even doing pilates, it happens as well. On a good note, they are comfortable and I love that it doesn't have the from seam, so it's anti-camel toe and squat-proof.

As coisas que testei foram dois conjuntos de desporto - de diferentes coleções - uma banda elástica e uma bebida energética, que foi oferecida. É importante dizer que eu usei estas peças várias vezes e em diferentes tipos de treinos, como yoga, pilates, HIIT e corrida. E também lavei as peças.

Infelizmente, para o preço que são, tenho a dizer que fiquei desapontada. Estava à espera de um bocado melhor. Antes de mais, devo dizer que não tenho a certeza se escolhi o tamanho certo, visto que me está um pouco apertado, mas ao mesmo tempo sinto que não deveria importar muito quando estou a avaliar em termos de performance.

Primeiramente, eu só experimentei calções, porque é o que eu gosto de utilizar. Por isso não sei se as leggings serão melhores ou não. Porém, em termos de calções, eu queria muito mais. Eles assentam bem, o material é bom e os que são para dar a ilusão de uma melhor definição do rabo, realmente dão, mas quando começamos a treinar eles têm um problema. Não são confortáveis porque enrolam muito.

E poderia ser apenas quando corro, porque não são feitos para isso, mas até mesmo a fazer pilates acontece. Numa melhor nota, são confortáveis e adoro o facto de não terem costura à frente, por isso é anti-camel toe e à prova de agachamentos.

Talking about the sports bras now, I am very happy with them. They are comfortable, supportive and also good for a more high impact exercise. For small boobs girlies, they look really good too. 

I want to mention too that, all the pieces, after washing stayed almost brand new.

Now speaking of the booty band. In the first month, it was simply amazing. I loved it. It was resistent and comfortable on the legs, even if you use shorts (so, against your skin). However, it the rubber bits started to deteriorate and now its resistent it's completely different. So, about it, I have my doubts. I know it wouldn't stay the same forever, but I feel like it was too quick.

For the freebie, the energy drink, I used it as a post-workout, in my case after a run and I have to say I did not feel much. It was a good energy drink, it tasted nice, was really frizzy and somehow I felt energized, not tired.

Falando dos sutiãs de desportos, estou muito contente com eles. São macios, cómodos e têm um grande suporte, até para exercícios de maior impacto. Para as meninas com um peito pequeno, fica muito bem!

Mencionar que mesmo depois de lavado, as peças mantiveram-se quase como novas.

Em relação à banda elástica, no primeiro mês, adorei, era mesmo incrível. Era resistente e confortável nas pernas, mesmo eu usando calções. Todavia, depois o elástico começou-se a estragar a olhos vistos e agora a resistência é completamente diferente. Por isso, sinceramente, tenho as minhas dúvidas. Eu sei que não vai ficar igual para sempre, mas penso que foi demasiado rápido.

Sobre a oferta, a bebida energética, bebi depois de treinar, no meu caso depois de uma corrida e gostei. Não senti muitas diferenças, mas era saborosa, com bastante gás e de certa forma até me senti com energia e não muito cansada.

I tend to like to write about my experiences, to be honest about everything, but usually more when the subject is online shopping/websites. Just because the risks is bigger and if it is a scam or something goes wrong I don't want other people to fall aswell.

With that being said, just like I did for the website Stylevana, I decided to do about TEMU, a website that has been getting so much exposure and publicity. From what I can gather, is very similar to Aliexpress and Wish, however I only have shopped on the first one. And now on TEMU.

I do have to say that they're prices are very competitive and appealing, but is it safe? Yes.

Eu tendo a escrever sore as minhas experiências, acerca de tudo basicamente, mas mais vezes quando o sujeito são as lojas online/websites. Só porque tende a haver um risco maior e se for um scam ou alguma coisa correr mal, eu não quero que os outros passem pelo mesmo.

Com isso dito, tal como eu fiz para o site Stylevana, decidi fazer sobre a TEMU, um site que tem ganhado bastante exposição e com muita publicidade. Do que eu consegui recolher, é muito parecido com o Aliexpress e a Wish, contudo eu apenas comprei no primeiro. E agora na TEMU.

Tenho de admitir que os preços são aliciantes e competitivos, mas será que é seguro? Sim.

From my experience, everything went normal and according to what the site told me. I did not pay any shipping nor did I pay for customs afterwards. The price that you see on the item that you want is exactly what you are going to pay. At least for me it was.

I only bought one thing, a travel duffel bag, and it was around 13€, free shipping included. The customs and taxes were all included in this price, as it was described there. Also I didn't pay small taxes, as you usually tend to, for example for conversion of currency.

About delievery time: they are very believable, because it's mentioned that if you don't receive your package between the dates they give you, you will get an extra credit to use in their website. 

For my purchase, it said that it would take around 1-2 weeks to get it, and, if I'm not mistaken, I took a bit less than two weeks, but still in the expected dates given.

Da minha experiência, tudo correu super normal e de acordo com o que o site diz. Não paguei portes de envio nem mesmo impostos alfandegários posteriormente. O preço que está mencionado é exatamente aquilo que terão de pagar. Pelo menos, para mim foi.

Eu apenas comprei uma coisa, uma mala desportiva de viagem, que foi acerca de 13€, portes de envio grátis. As taxas e impostos estão incluídos nos preço, como está descrito. Também não paguei por taxas mais pequenas, como usualmente tende a acontecer, como por exemplo câmbio da moeda.

Sobre o tempo de entrega: é bastante fiel, até porque asseguram que se não obtivermos a nossa encomenda dentro do tempo dado que nos darão um crédito extra para usar no website.

Para a minha encomenda, dizia que demoraria entre 1 a 2 semanas, e, se não estou errada, demorou um pouquinho menos de duas semanas, mas ainda nas datas dadas.

I will be honest and say that I was a bit underwhelmed by the quality of the product. Even though, I can see that the relation price / quality is very reasonable and I was not mad at all. It's just that what I saw in the picture it's a much better item. The bag seemed more structured and stronger then what really is. 

Nonetheless, is a very nice bag, really good for it's price, gets the job done and most of all I did not have any troubles with the website nor frustrations upon doing the purchase. So, from my experience only I do reccomend TEMU and it was not a scam.

Vou ser honesta e dizer que fiquei impressionada com a qualidade do produto. Mesmo assim, consigo ver que é uma relação qualidade / preço razoável e não estou nada chateada. É apenas que o que vi nas fotografias parecia um item muito melhor. A mala parecia mais estruturada e forte do que o que realmente é.

Porém, é uma mala muito boa, especialmente pelo preço, faz o que deve e mais do que tudo não tive nenhum problema com o site nem nenhuma frustração em fazer a compra. Por isso, pela minha experiência apenas eu recomendo a TEMU e não é um scam.

 The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes goes back in time in terms of all of the rest of the films of the saga. And tell us the story of Coriolanus Snow and how did he become the President of the Games.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the prequel touch on subjects like how the games began, the first game and their evolution. But primarily focus on the journey of the president of Panem, 64 years before that, and how he had to mentor Lucy Gray Bird, the female tribute from District 12, so he had a chance to a change in his life.

I can’t compare the film to the book, since I didn’t read it, consequently, don’t expect me to do comparisons.

I have to begin by saying that this prequel did not disappoint me at all. In fact, I would go further and say that it’s probably at the same level as the others films of the saga. Maybe more incline to the last ones, because of having more storyline rather than just the annual game. I say this as a compliment, because usually prequels are not that good.

Speaking of cinematography and directing, I really enjoyed the fact that they tried to keep everything cohesive and similar to the other films. And I say that in terms of colours, scenarios (even though you can see it passes in an older timeline), and narration order. In my opinion, it’s nice to not see this film dislocated from the rest.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes features Tom Blyth as young President Snow, Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Bird and Viola Davis as Dr. Volumnia Gaul (a crazy asset to the games). I have to say, this cast couldn’t have been better. The performances are just amazing and even without reading the book, I felt that at least Tom Blyth was very true to the personality of Snow on the other films. 

Also the sound and music is very present throughout all of the film, it gets borderline a musical. I was not a fan at how much singing it is involved at the beginning, but you definitely get used to it because it is important to the story. And Rachel Zegler does a really good job with her character.

After all that, even though I could say you can watch this one first, prior to the other four, there is definitely hints of the other ones and it’s nice to connect that dots.

Finally, I have to say that I for sure recommend this new Hunger Games film. There is definitely a focus on a villain in here, but I never felt a complete passion to him, which is great because we know how mean Snow is. I believe every fan is going to like the film even if it is only on a nostalgic feel. I would give The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes a 4 out of 5. I was absorbed into this world on the first second.

Oh, and don’t need to wait for the credits to roll, because there is not post-credits scene, on any occasion. That end is the end. However, I can see a next film to this one.

The Hunger Games: A Balada dos Pássaros e das Serpentes volta atrás no tempo em relação a todos os outros filmes da saga. E conta-nos a história de Coriolanus Snow e como se tornou o Presidente dos jogos. 

Realizado por Francis Lawrence, a prequela aborda assuntos como o início dos jogos, o primeiro jogo e sua evolução. Mas concentra-se principalmente na jornada do presidente da Panem, 64 anos antes, e como teve que ser o mentor de Lucy Gray Bird, a tributo feminina do Distrito 12, para que tivesse uma oportunidade de uma mudança na sua vida.

Não posso comparar o filme com o livro, pois não o li, consequentemente, não esperem que faça comparações. 

Devo começar por dizer que esta prequela não me dececionou em nada. Na verdade, eu iria mais longe e diria que provavelmente está ao mesmo nível dos demais filmes da saga. Talvez mais inclinado para os últimos, por ter mais enredo do que apenas o jogo anual. Digo isto como um elogio, porque geralmente as prequelas não são tão boas assim. 

Falando em fotografia e direção, gostei muito do facto de terem tentado manter tudo coeso e parecido com os outros filmes. Falo em termos de cores, cenários (mesmo que possam ver que se passa em uma linha do tempo mais antiga) e ordem de narração. Na minha opinião, é bom não ver este filme deslocado dos restantes.

Volumnia Gaul (um criador dos jogos). Devo dizer que este elenco não poderia ter sido melhor. As atuações são simplesmente incríveis e mesmo sem ler o livro, senti que pelo menos Tom Blyth foi muito fiel à personalidade de Snow nos outros filmes. 

Além disso, o som e a música estão muito presentes ao longo de todo o filme, chega a ser quase um musical. Eu não estava a gostar tanto do quanto cantar estava envolvido no início, mas depois definitivamente acostumei-me. Até porque é importante para a história. E a Rachel Zegler faz um ótimo trabalho com sua personagem. 

Depois de tudo isto, embora eu possa dizer que podem assistir este primeiro, antes dos outros quatro, definitivamente há pequenas coisas dos outros que se menciona neste e é giro conectar esses pontos. 

Por fim, dizer que com certeza recomendo este novo filme dos The Hunger Games. Sem dúvida que há um foco no vilão aqui, mas nunca senti uma paixão completa por ele, o que é ótimo porque sabemos o quão mau Snow é. Acredito que todo o fã vai gostar do filme, mesmo que seja apenas por um sentimento nostálgico. Eu daria a The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes uma nota de 4 em 5. Fui completamente absorvida por este mundo desde o primeiro segundo. 

Ah, e não precisam de esperar os créditos rolarem, porque não tem cena pós-créditos, em nenhuma ocasião. Esse fim é o fim. No entanto, consigo ver acontecer um filme depois deste.

 In one of my previous posts, where I talked about my hair routine, I mentioned that I've been trying one product to fight off my problem with dandruff. My biggest issue, in case you haven't read the other post, was that usually the hair treatments (shampoos, conditioners, etc) that attack dandruff are filled with chemicals that are not great for your hair, specially curly hair since it destroys the hair's shape.

 With a lot of research, I decided to try this one treatment that checks all my boxes: it's cruelty-free, silicon free and sulphate free. And above all it's suposed to get rid of the itchiness. I'm talking about the INKEY List Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Scalp Treatment. I know, INKEY List is not very known by hair products, but stick with me.

 Numa das minhas postagens anteriores, onde eu falo sobre a minha rotina de cabelo, eu mencionei que andava a experimentar um produto de cabelo para combater a caspa. O meu maior problema, no caso de ainda não terem lido o post, é que usualmente o tratamento de cabelos (champôs, condicionadores, etc) que atacam a caspa estão cheios de químicos que não são bons para o cabelo, especialmente caracóis, visto que destrói o ondulamento.

 Com muita pesquisa, decidi tentar este tratamento que confere todos os meus pontos: sem crueldade, silicones e sem sulfatos. E acima de tudo supostamente trata a comichão. Estou a falar do Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Scalp Treatment da INKEY List. Eu sei, a marca não é muito conhecida por produtos de cabelo, mas confiem em mim.

 According to their website it "gently exfoliates and sloughs off dead skin cells on the scalp to help reduce flakes and excess oil", due to the 2% salycilic acid; "helps to reduce the scalp's redness", with the help of the 2.5% FLUIDIPURE™ 8G; and "helps to hydrate and moisturize hair" because of the 1% panthenol.

 Also it claims that after 1 use flakes look instantly reduced. And I'm going to say it, I agree with it.

 It might sound crazy to you, but it did work in my first use. And on the second usage it was almost completely gone, to the point that I barely had any itchiness or redness on the scalp. Flakes were totally gone. Plus, I never lost my curl pattern. In fact, my hair stayed pretty hidrated.

 It is a bit messy to use, since you have to apply on the roots and the product it's very liquidy, but it is worth it. You do use a lot. I might have used 5/6 times and it is 3/4 down. The nice part is that is not that expensive. I bit more than the normal dandruff shampoos, but for me this treatment is so much better. Not only works better, but it also doesn't ruin my hair. Which the other shampoos do.

 This pre-shampoo treatment, paired with a nice and also sulphate and silicon free shampoo and equal conditioner, is the perfect combination. Maybe too good.

 Definitely recommend!! It works, doesn't dry or makes my scalp red, doesn't sting. It's only good things, plus you only use it two times a week.

 De acordo com o site, "exfolia suavemente e remove as células mortas da pele do couro cabeludo, tal como ajuda a reduzir o excesso de oleosidade”, devido ao ácido salicílico 2%; “ajuda a reduzir a vermelhidão do couro cabeludo”, com a ajuda do 2,5% FLUIDIPURE™ 8G; e “ajuda a hidratar os cabelos” por causa do panthenol 1%.

 Também afirma que reduz instantaneamente a caspa na primeira utilização. E vou dizê-lo, é verdade.

 Pode soar estranho para vocês, mas resultou mesmo desde o primeiro uso. E na segunda utilização tinha praticamente desaparecido, ao ponto de que não tinha quase comichão nenhuma nem vermelhidão no couro cabeludo. A caspa tinha muito pouca. E mais, nunca perdi os caracóis. Na verdade, o meu cabelo continuou bastante hidratado. 

 Suja um bocado, uma vez que temos de aplicar na raiz e o produto é bastante líquido, mas compensa. Usamos muito. Eu talvez tenha usado 5 ou 6 vezes e já só tenho 3/4. A parte boa é que não é muito caro. É mais do que a maioria dos champôs de caspa, mas para mim este tratamento é muito melhor. Não só funciona melhor, como não danifica o cabelo. O que os outros produtos fazem.

 Este é um tratamento é usado antes de tudo, combinado com um bom champô, também sem silicones e sulfatos, tal como um condicionador igual, é junção perfeita. Demasiado boa.

 Recomendo definitivamente!! Funciona, não deixa o couro cabelo seco ou vermelho, não arde. Só coisas boas, para mais só se usa duas vezes por semana, máximo.

É aquela altura do ano outra vez, e eu espero que vocês não se cansem porque eu gosto mesmo de escrever sobre isto. O MOTELX, o Festival Internacional de Cinema de Terror de Lisboa, este ano aconteceu uma semana mais tarde, mas até que foi bom porque assim apanhamos bom tempo.

Infelizmente, não pude participar como voluntária como o ano passado porque estive a trabalhar. Contudo tive a possibilidade de ir alguns dias e assistir a alguns filmes. Irão ver como foi essa semana daqui a uns dias, no meu próximo post, mas por agora irei partilhar convosco os visuais que usei e talvez depois de sete anos trazer de volta para o blogue os típicos reviews de filmes.

12th of September - day one of the festival

You won’t be alone

I believe you can't be spoiled about this film, no matter what I say, because it's all about the feels. In short, it takes place in the 19th century and it is about a young witch that accidentally kills someone and decided to see what life is like in her skin.

My score is a 2.5 out of 5. I have very mixed feelings about it. Technically speaking, it was a great movie. Story wise also good, but no that engaging for me. What I really didn't like and it through me off was caracterizing it as horror. Yes, it is a bit gruesome, but the rest is kinda boring. 

It was interesting in the first half. The cinematography and message behind it was quite beautiful, but then it just couldn't hold me through the whole film. At some point it seem, in my point of view that they tried to make a slice o life movie into horror, and that doesn’t makes sense to me. 

But it is a polarizing film, because my sister loved it. So, take this opinion however you like.

This one is your basic a little bit indie, but also mainstream type of horror movie. It is about a mother that it is challenged by an increasingly strange behavior of her young daughter. In this journey she is forced to face ghosts from the past.

I give it a 3 out of 5. At first thought I gave it a half star more, but now, a few days later I can see that it is a bit forgetable. Because of how basic it is. And that's the thing it is a good movie, but nothing happens that is memorable. 

I like it more than the previous one just because it was more entertaining and it captivated me during the whole film. However, it is predictable. It does make you scared nonetheless, you'll be on the edge of your seat for couple times. Plus, the acting and actors choice is incredible. It has that annoying effect.

I would recommend you watch it, however keep it in mind that it's not the most original.

You won’t be alone

Eu acredito que não há grande maneira de estragar o filme, porque é tudo uma questão de sensações. Resumidamente, passa-se no século XIX e é sobre uma jovem bruxa que acidentalmente mata uma pessoa e decide ver como é a vida na pele dessa pessoa.

A minha pontuação é de 2.5 de 5.  Eu tenho sentimentos mistos. Tecnicamente falando, é um filme muito bom. A história também não é má, mas não completamente envolvente para mim. O que eu realmente não gostei foi caracterizá-lo como terror. Sim, é um pouco nojento, mas o resto é um bocadinho aborrecido.

Foi interessante no primeiro tempo. A fotografia e a mensagem por trás dele eram muito bonitas, mas simplesmente não conseguiram me segurar durante todo o filme. Em algum momento parece, no meu ponto de vista, que eles tentaram transformar um filme de terror em um pedaço da vida, e isso não faz sentido para mim.

Mas é um filme polarizador, porque minha irmã adorou. Então, aceite essa opinião como quiser.

Run Rabbit Run

Este é o tipo filme básico de terror um pouco indie, mas também mainstream. Trata-se de uma mãe que é desafiada pelo comportamento cada vez mais estranho da filha. Nesta jornada ela é forçada a enfrentar fantasmas do passado.

Dou 3 de 5. No início pensei em dar meia estrela a mais, mas agora, alguns dias depois, vejo que é um pouco esquecível. Por ser tão básico. E o problema é esse, é um bom filme, mas não acontece nada que seja memorável.

Gosto mais dele do que o anterior, só porque foi mais divertido e cativou-me durante todo o filme. No entanto, é previsível. Mesmo assim, ficam com medo e ficaram na ponta da cadeira algumas vezes. Além disso, as atuações e a escolha de atores é incrível. O filme tem aquele efeito irritante.

Eu recomendo-o, mas lembrem-se de que não é dos mais originais.

15th of September - day four of the festival

Infinity Pool

I was so excited for this one. From the get go, I said that if I could only see a movie, I would go see this one. It is about a couple that is staying at an isolated island resort. When they venture outside the walls off the resort they are encountered by a culture filled with violence, hedonism and horror.

I give it a score of 4 out of 5. I will admit that it was not what I expected, but I was not disappointed, whatsoever. To be honest, the type of horror is right up my alley. There was only two little things that I don't love, maybe a bit too comedic and a character too annoying. But I recognize that it works!

The style of shooting, the cinematography, the editing was impeccable. I love that it was jarring and it was not afraid to show it. Plus, the topic that it touches is very original. I will say that towards the end it gets repetitive.

I need to mention that was really nice to have Brandon Cronenberg there. Definitely check this one out.

Sessão Surpresa FilmTwist MOTELX 

I can now say that the surprise movie was the remastered version of Ichi the Killer from Takashi Miike. In case you don't know, this movie has the reputation of being a very gross movie. It's about a sadomasochist yakuza that in his search for his boss comes across Ichi, a psychotic killer.

I'm between a 3 and 3.5 out of 5. Keep in mind that I watched this one at midnight, after a day of work and right after Infinity Pool, so I was a bit tired. But the more I think about it, the more I think I enjoyed it. Like some visual effects are kind of bad, but I understand the hype. It was entertaining.

It was a bit long for that hour, people were already a bit exausted, but I understand why midnight - it just works great. Love how extreme it is. Not only in the gross aspect, but also how it goes above and beyond in every scene. He just went all out, no filters. Again, I enjoy the cinematography and the editing style a lot. 

It is gruesome, but it's from 2001, so some gross aspects were not that believable now. Maybe it is intentional. But some were very real too.

Infinity Pool

Eu estava muito animada com este. Desde o início que disse que se só pudesse ver um filme, iria ver este. É sobre um casal que está hospedado num resort numa ilha isolada. Quando eles se aventuram para fora dos muros do resort, eles deparam-se com uma cultura cheia de violência, hedonismo e horror.

Dou-lhe uma nota 4 em 5. Admito que não era o que esperava, mas não fiquei desiludida de forma alguma. Para ser honesta, o tipo de terror é mesmo o que eu gosto. Houve apenas duas pequenas coisas que eu não adorei, talvez um pouco cómico demais e um personagem muito chato. Mas reconheço que funciona!

O estilo de filmagem, a fotografia, a edição são impecáveis. Eu adorei o facto que é chocante e não teve medo de mostrar isso. Além disso, o tema que aborda é muito original. Diria que no final fica repetitivo.

Quero mencionar que foi muito bom ter o Brandon Cronenberg lá. Definitivamente vejam este.

Estou entre 3 e 3.5 em 5. Lembrem-se que assisti este à meia-noite, depois de um dia de trabalho e logo após Infinity Pool, então estava um pouco cansada. Mas quanto mais penso nisso, mais acho que gostei. Alguns efeitos visuais são um bocado maus, mas eu entendo o hype. Foi divertido.

A duração é um pouco demais para aquela hora, as pessoas já estavam um pouco exaustas, mas eu entendo o porquê da meia-noite - simplesmente funciona muito bem. Adoro o facto de ser extremista. Não só no aspeto repugnante, mas também como vai além do imaginário em cada cena. Ele simplesmente deu tudo, sem filtros. Mais uma vez, gostei muito da cinematografia e do estilo de edição.

Sendo de 2001, alguns aspetos nojentos não são tão credíveis agora. Talvez seja intencional. Mas alguns eram porém muito reais.

A Semente do Mal

In english Amelia's Children, it's a portuguese horror movie. And what an incredible surprise that was. It tells the story of Edward, who's take to a house in the north of Portugal in his search to find his biological parents. But soon he finds out he is bound to a monstuous secret.

My score continues to be a 4 out of 5. My expections were not high, and maybe that played a part, but I liked it so much. It's not a super original story, but you can see that the director doesn't intended to be either. It's how it is told and showed that is compelling and interesting.

The funny aspects are definitely more targeted to the portuguese audience, but whole vibe and tension during the film and emphasized by the acting is understandable to any language. The performances are great. It's also a fact that being 80% spoke in english also helps gather more public. 

The film is simple, it's your classic horror movie, but it's so well done and very enjoyable.

A Semente do Mal

Em inglês é Amelia's Children, mas é um filme português de terror. E que incrível surpresa. Conta a história de Edward, que é levado a uma casa no norte Portugal na sua procura de encontrar os pais biológicos. Mas rapidamente descobre que está ligado a segredos monstruosos. 

A minha pontuação é de 4 em 5. As minhas expetativas não eram altas, e isso talvez ajudou, mas eu gostei bastante. Não é a história mais original, mas o realizador também não pretende que o seja. É a maneira como é contada e mostrada que é atraente e interessante.

O aspeto cómico é definitivamente direcionado à audiência portuguesa, mas todo o vibe e tensão durante o filme e enfatizado pela atuação dos atores é compreendida em qualquer língua. As atuações são boas. Também é um facto que ser falado maioritariamente em inglês ajuda a conseguir mais público.

O filme é simples, é o clássico filme de terror, mas é muito bem feito e agradável.

17th of September - day six of the festival

Mister Organ

To end this horror week at the festival, I went to see a documentary by David Farrier. This true crime stories are always so interesting. As you may know, David Farrier is a journalist and in this movie he decided to investigate some reports of fraudulent car clamping. However, things take a turn and is pushed to the limits of his sanity.

Overall, it is a 3 out 5. The premise was odd and appealing and it started very well. But as the movie went on it became repetitive. Specially towards the end. He just continue to justify the same piece of conclusion, which was even that overwhelming. 

Not taking credits of the documentary that was still newsworthy, I just felt that it lacked excitement. I understand why at some point he had to back off, but it needed more. What he discovered could hold you to an extent. Then it just lost it.

Even though the whole story is incredible weird and maybe give it a shot, I wanted more.

Mister Organ

Para acabar este semana de terror, fui ver um documentário do David Farrier. As histórias de crime reais são sempre tão interessantes. Como podem saber, David Farrier é um jornalista e que neste filme decido investigar algumas reclamações de bloqueios de carros fraudulentos. Contudo, as coisas dão uma reviravolta e ele é levado aos limites.

No geral, um sólido 3 em 5. A premissa é bem estranha e cativante, e começou bastante bem. Mas à medida que o filme seguia, começou a ficar repetitivo. Especialmente, no final. Ele apenas continua a justificar a mesma conclusão, que nem foi muito escandalosa. 

Não tirando o mérito do documentário que ainda assim é digno de notícia, apenas senti que faltou algo excitante. Eu compreendo o porquê de ele ter de parar a investigação, mas faltou algo mais. O que ele descobriu apenas te agarra até certo ponto. Depois perde força.

Mesmo que a história seja bizarra e talvez seja digna de oportunidade, eu gostaria de mais.
