One thing that I've been wanting to do for quite some time is getting rid off my body hair completely. Or at least make the growth take more time. At first, I wanted to do it professionally and with laser. But after watching all those videos and results about IPL done at home I decided to give it a shot. Specially because I have a really bad reaction on my crotch area to the razor and cream wax.

I've been doing my intimate part and my armpits for one month now: two times, because it's every two weeks. However I'm starting my legs now and therefore I decided to show you results and how I do it through that part of my body. For obvious reasons.

~~

Primeiramente, quis fazer profissionalmente e a lazer.

The Intense Pulsed Light device I'm using is the Lumea Essential from Philips. The scale goes from 1 to 5 and a really good thing about this Lumea, at least, is that it only pulses when you have positioned the deviced correctly to the skin.

One my crotch area I'm only able to endure until the 3rd level, but on my legs I easily go up to 4. Before using it is instructed to you to shave your legs, in this case, preferably with razor. As I said before I get very itchy doing it with razor, so to help a bit I've been shaving the direction of the hair growth and that really helps, honestly.

I did a test prior to each level to see if I had any reaction. None. And for reference my skin is tanned. I suntan easy, and don't sunburnt that easy. For my bikini line and armpits I do it with the click movement - one pulse at a time - but for my legs, since it's a bigger area and to do it quicker I use the pulsing movement, where you just keep the button pressed and glide the device through your legs.

~~

Nada.

For now, I can't really see results, since it's day 1. Nevertheless, I have to say that it's very easy to use, it doesn't consume a lot of time to do it and it doesn't hurt at all, nor it burns your skin. Just make sure you don't have hairs, cause in that way it will smell a little burnt.

To motivate you, in my intimate part and armpits, I already see results. It's definitely taking longer to grow and doesn't leave any mark.

~~

Therefore, I decided to write this post, not only for you, but for me too, to take conscience that we need time to adapt and honestly is all a process of try and error. Even if sometimes we think we want to accomplish something, when you actually try it, it may not bring you happiness like you thought.

~~

First of all, I did a list of every single resolution and things I wanted to accomplish this year. For me it was continue to drink 2 liters of water per day, vlog once a month and post once a week, read 10 books, learn to read tarot cards, continue my studies in korean, wake up when the sunrises, go to bed earlier, train my running and finally stretch overall and to reach the middle splits.

~~

Second, I tried it. You can do all at the same time, or adding one by one as the time goes one. However, I advise you of creating a weekly schedule with the things you want to do and start doing. That because this is the routine you want to do onward. If that routine doesn't work or you feel that something is wrong, change it until it does work and you feel fullfiled.

Third (and last), remember you don't need to do everything everyday. Or if you don't do it one day, that doesn't mean you failed, circunstances happen.

~~

As you know, I'm back in Lisbon and even though my life is not as interesting (I believe), I still take joy out of filming and show you my day-to-day life. Even if I'm kind off bad at remembering to film, but I am really trying though.

My day offs are the ones where more stuff happens, but this time it landed perfectly on my best friend's birthday and we went bowling. However, expect more chill (lofi) type of vlogs, as I'm also trying to organize my life and getting back on track.

I still filmed in vertical, so if you don't like let me know. Also, I mostly do fast-paced and quick videos, so if you would like longer ones, also tell me.

~~

Last sunday, on October 9th, I completed one of my goals for this year: run an half-marathon. And I couldn’t be more happy with it.

If you have been following me, specially my fitness journey, you would know that I have been running and taking it a bit seriously. There is why my goal was to be able to run the 21.1km, since I have already done 10km and less. I started practicing during quarantine, around a year and half ago, as a way to go outside. But only after 2 months, when I saw that I was good at it and above all I really enjoy it, I started taking it seriously and really introducing it into my workout programs.

~~

At the end of last year I was pretty comfortable running the 10km, which corresponds to the mini-marathon, and I had a run scheduled, so for the next year, 2022, the next step to go to were the half-marathon. I started in the beginning of the year with small goals, like I wanted to be able to run 15km by April. And I did it. Then I kinda fell out of it because of all the university projects that I had, and I even thought that I wasn’t going to do it because I was not training enough.

It was after my summer holidays in Chiclana, that I said to myself, “no, I’m going to do it, and now that I’m free I can really focus hard”. And for the next 8 weeks I put all my energy to it and followed a run program diligently (from Marathon Handbook). Not gonna lie by the end I started to be more lazy and my life had some more turbulence. But how some people say it’s best to undertrain than to overtrain.

~~

So on October 9th I completed the Luso Half-Marathon, here in Portugal, with a time of 1:54:38, which rounds to 5:26min/km. My best of all time. It was hard by the end of it, kilometer 18 forward, but overall I felt pretty good. Not going to hide the fact that I went with my dad and since he runs a lot more than me he pushed me a lot and helped me during the water points (where they give you water, power raid, gel, fruit, etc).

In terms of my 2 months training it consisted of 4 runs a week: two medium runs, usually 8km; one easy run, 4km; and one long run, started at 10km and ended by 18km. During my training I never did 21km, but I felt ready for it actually. On top of that I kept my usual pilates workouts 6 times a week.

~~

It was very hard to keep up with all it, and if I had university I probably wouldn’t be able to, but with passion you can do it all. And that’s the best advice I have for you. On top of all the training you have to do, and be realistic and consistent with your goals and run, to become better, you only be able to up yourself if you really like what you’re doing: running. You have to take joy from all the sweat and heart racing and after pain to be able to continue. I’m not saying you have to want it everyday, some days that I was supposed to run I didn’t feel like it, but or you push forward because the feeling after feels good or you just accept it that today is not the day, which is important too. Which cannot happen is feel like a chore every single time.

Finally, if you can find a buddy that’s even better. At least have family and friends to motivate you, even if they don’t run with you. I’m very grateful for all my family and friends. And a big thank you to my dad that ran with me and motivates me every single time, to his friend that pushed me a little more during the run, and to my sister and my friends that went to the finish line to see me pass it.

~~

Every year it's a new opportunity to reflect at what you are doing, and change it to what you really want to be doing. That's why every year I write down 12 resolutions to conquer that year. However, today I'm only going to show you 5, since I don't want to get my hopes that up yet and because these are probably the ones I really want to accomplish.

Without anymore explain to do, let me tell you what I have in my goals list, and when I write them down what I have in mind (I try to have stuff to every category).

~~

Stretch every sunday - because in all of my resolutions I have to have someting about workout, my body (physical), since it's something I'm very passionate about and it's really good for all of us. Since I tend to not stretch enough for all the workout I do (and I want to be more flexible), this is one of my resolutions.

Visit Pena Palace - last year I started to have more respect and see more clearer the importance of cultural knowledge, like going to theaters or visit museums, so this year I want to visit this super popular and gorgeous Palace.

Learn Japanese - one of my passions is languages, I just love being able to communicate with everyone. About 2 years ago I started learning korean, but this year I wanted to try a different one, japanese.

Try to be a pilates certified instructor - As I said previously, I love working out, I really like being active and sweat - I just have so much fun while doing cardio and pilates. So, I thought that could actually be a career path for me (or a second job), that's why I want to take a pilates course.

Reduce my sugar intake - I believe everyone is addicted to sugar, it doesn't matter what type of candy or sweet, my problem is that it started to became a habit - after every meal I had to eat something sweet like cake or chocolate or cookies. Since I want to change that, for even my own health, I decided to reduce my sugar and only eat on weekends.

~~
