My impressions of Bouclème

For the past month I've been trying a new brand, a curly hair care brand. These past few months taking care of my curls have been something I want to do more, not only because it's difficult and it's not like taking care of straight hair and because when my curls are define and shine it makes me more confident. And that's why I start using Bouclème, a curly girl method approved brand.

If you never hear about Bouclème, according to their website, the brand was created to help curly hairs to be more healthy, frizz-free, shiny and define using only natural ingredients and their products are parabens, sulphate and silicone free. Not only that, but the brand is also eco certified - doesn't contain chemical nasties and it doesn't test on animals.

Durante o mês passado estive a testar uma nova marca, marca de cuidado de caracóis. Nestes meses passados, cuidar dos meus caracóis tem sido algo que ando a tentar mais, não apenas porque são mais difíceis e diferentes comparando com cabelo esticado, mas porque quando tenho os caracóis definidos e brilhantes sinto-me mais confiante. E foi por isso que comecei a utilizar Bouclème, uma marca aprovada pelo método da "curly girl".

Se nunca ouviram falar da marca Bouclème, de acordo com o seu website, a marca foi criada com o intuito de ajudar os cabelos encaracolados a serem mais saudáveis, sem frizz, brilhantes e definidos, utilizando só ingredientes naturais e produtos livres de parabenos, sulfatos e silicones. Não apenas isso como a marca também é sustentável - não contem químicos prejudiciais e não testa em animais.

Now, for the products I've been trying: I bought I kit on lookfantastic (product here) that it's actually a collaboration between the store and the brand. This kit contains a hydrating hair cleanser, a curl conditioner, a curl defining gel and a super hold styler.

As of my first impressions, those were pretty good, I really enjoyed every product, but I've to admit that I didn't like the smell. The hair cleanser felt like it did took most of the dirt and it even felt like it smoothed out my hair. For the conditioner I felt that he was pretty basic, it did something but I didn't see huge differences to say that it has something special. The defining gel and the hold styler, for me, they're both very similar, not in terms of consistency, but in terms of what they do to my hair. However, I definitely saw differences between them: comparing "the first day" the defining gel provided a lot more definition than the hold styler, notwithstanding that this last one gives great definition. But comparing "the second day", when using the gel I could definitely see that my hair was a lot more oilier and with less definition than when using the styler.

Agora, em relação aos produtos que estou a experimentar: eu comprei um kit na lookfantastic (produto aqui) que por acaso é uma colaboração entre a loja e a marca. Este kit contem um champô hidratante, um condicionador de caracóis, um gel definidor de caracóis e um super estilizador.

Em relação às minhas primeiras impressões, essas foram bastante boas, gostei muito de todos os produtos, mas tenho de admitir que não gostei do cheiro. O champô limpava a maioria da sujidade e até me deixava o cabelo mais macio. O condicionador pareceu-me bastante básico, fez algo, mas nada que eu nota-se grandes diferenças em relação a outros produtos. O gel definidor e o estilizador, para mim, são ambos semelhantes, não em termos de consistência, mas em termos de o que eles fazem ao cabelo. No entanto, eu definitivamente vi diferenças entre eles: comparando "o primeiro dia" o gel forneceu muito mais definição do que o estilizador, não obstante que este último também define bastante. Mas comparando "o segundo dia", quando utilizei o gel consegui sentir que o meu cabelo estava mais oleoso e com menos definição do que quando utilizei o estilizador.

As of now, after one month, my opinion is a bit different. Before I get into detail, I have to say that my opinion it's not bad, is not as good as I hoped but still it could've been worse.

As a whole kit, it didn't work out for me. Obviously, along the way I learnt what was the best way to use each product accordingly to my hair/scalp needs and type. But one thing that I still couldn't get solved was the build-up product I have on my scalp, since the cleanser it's not strong enough for the products I use (cream and gel).

To conclude about the hydrating cleanser, I like it on my first days, but after week one it wasn't great, it didn't cleanse my hair as I hoped and because of that I had some days with a lot of dandruff and itchiness. For the conditioner, in general I enjoyed it, but again it wasn't strong enough - at first it was only what I need but after week one, my hair needed a more potent conditioner -, it does work really well as a cream though. For the gel and styler, of all products, is the ones I like the best. The gel I understood that I couldn't use a lot or I would get oily hair and after it dried I really had to scrunch out a lot of product. The styler is just something I can use everyday without a lot of thought and my hair still looks pretty defined, on the contrary the gel may be for a more special occasion.

Overall, it's not something I recommend 100%, maybe the hold styler I do - I think is a good product. Alone, along with other brands, it might work, but in this combination definitely not perfect and I still don't enjoy that much the smell of them.

Por agora, depois de um mês, a minha opinião é um pouco diferente. Antes de entrar em detalhe, tenho de dizer que a minha opinião não é má, não é tão boa como eu esperava, mas podia ser pior.

Como um kit, não resultou para mim. Obviamente que com o passar do tempo eu fui aprendendo a utilizar cada produto de acordo com as necessidades e tipo do meu cabelo/couro cabeludo. Mas uma coisa que nunca consegui resolver foi a acumulação de produto, visto que o champô não era forte o suficiente para limpar todos os produtos que utilizo (creme e gel).

Para concluir o champô, eu gostei nos primeiros dias, mas depois da primeira semana já não foi bom, não limpava o meu cabelo como eu esperava e por causa disso tinha dias com muita comichão e caspa. Sobre o condicionador, no geral gostei, mas outra vez não era forte o suficiente - primeiramente era só o que eu precisava, mas depois da semana um, o meu cabelo precisava de um condicionador mais potente -, funciona bem, no entanto, como creme. Em relação ao gel e ao estilizador, de todos os produtos, foram os que mais gostei. O gel eu percebi que não podia utilizar muito ou irei ficar com o cabelo oleoso e depois de seco tinha que ficar ainda algum tempo a tirar o produto. O estilizador é algo que eu posso usar todos os dias sem muito pensamento e o meu continua bem definido, ao contrário do gel que talvez seja para uma ocasião mais especial.

No geral, não é algo que recomendo 100%, talvez o estilizador sim - acho que é um bom produto. Sozinhos, com outras marcas, podem até resultar, mas nesta combinação não são perfeitos de todo e continuo a não gostar muito do cheiro.
