I'm so thankful for the the fact that 80s fashion is exactly what I like - I mix with other styles but 80s clothes are very fun. But I'm more happy about that because my house, at the moment is a mess of boxes since I'll have some house fixing next week, so a lot of my clothes are already packed up.

Leaving that aside, this outfit is going to be the most me one, don't expect a very different thing from my usual, like the previous decades looks.

Eu estou muito agradecida pelo facto de os anos 80 serem exatamente o género de roupa que eu gosto - eu combino com outros estilos, mas a moda dos anos 80 é muito gira. Mas estou ainda mais feliz porque, neste momento, a minha casa está numa confusão de caixas uma vez que vou ter reparações para a semana e por isso muita da minha roupa está arrumada.

Pondo isso de lado, este visual é o que vai ser mais "eu", não esperem algo muito diferente do meu usual, como foi o caso das décadas anteriores.

As the years start to be more up to date, the easier it gets to recreate, specially for you guys with your own clothes. I love each piece of clothing I'm wearing and even though I did not use one particular piece that I think is very eighties vibe, I'm still happy with the result.

The 1980s fashion is characterized by the power suits, legwarmers and spandex and Lycra tights, but in terms of day-to-day clothes you can see a lot of pastel and acid-washed jeans paired with effortless grunge tops, such as tie-dye tees, baggy t-shirts, or colourful shirts.

Since it's me doing, obviously I went for a printed red coloured shirt tucked in some washed high-waisted mom jeans, accessorized it with a necklace and a belt and on the hair a scrunchie. To finalize, I chose sneakers, I decided to go for high-top all stars.

À medida que os anos começam a ser mais recentes, mais fácil fica recriá-los, especialmente para vocês com as vossas próprias roupas. Eu adoro cada peça de roupa que estou a usar e mesmo não utilizando uma em particular que eu acho que tem mesmo ar de anos 80, fiquei mesmo assim feliz com o resultado.

A moda de 1980 é caracterizada pelos fatos de treino, aquecedores de pernas, spandex e pelas lycra e pelas collants, mas em termos de roupa do dia-a-dia vê-mos imenso calças de ganga pastel ou desgastadas com tops grunge, como camisolas tie-dye, t-shirts largas, ou camisas coloridas.

Uma vez que sou eu a construir o look, obviamente que escolhi uma camisa vermelha com padrões metida para dentro de umas calças de ganga mom desgastadas, e como acessórios escolhi um colar dourado um cinto preto e para o cabelo adicionei um scrunchie. Para finalizar, optei por ténis e decidi por all stars em bota.

The possibility of having my period while I was on my holidays were very, very high. Since I got covid, back in the beginning of june, everything got a little bit irregular - in that month I got my period twice, so the time got messed up, to say the least.

It was supposed to appear in my first day in Chiclana, thankfully it didn't so I was able to enjoy that day fully, specially because I didn't have any symptoms either. However, 3 days later - I was there from monday to monday and I had it on thursday - I guess it was time. Obviously, when I saw that it really was my period, I thought how am I going to enjoy the holidays, since summer resorts are all about the beach, the sea, the pool, swimming, water activities, etc?

To be fair with you, I was already happy that I got to enjoy the first days, so that kept me with a positive mindset. However, speaking honestly, the first "period morning", the time when we go to the beach, it was a bit hard - I got sad for the fact that I couldn't go to the sea and have fun with my dad and sister. But the next few days were pretty chill. 

If you want me to tell the whole story, let me know, but I'm kinda preparing that story already.

A probabilidade de me aparecer o período durante as férias era muito, muito grande. Desde que apanhei a covid-19, no início de junho, tudo ficou um pouco irregular - nesse mês tive o período duas vezes, por isso o ciclo ficou baralhado, para não dizer mais.

Era suposto aparecer no primeiro dia em Chiclana, felizmente não aconteceu e por isso consegui aproveitar esse dia ao máximo, especialmente porque também não tinha sintomas. Contudo, 3 dias depois - eu estive lá de segunda a segunda e apareceu na quinta-feira - foi o dia. Obviamente, quando eu vi que era mesmo o período, eu pensei como é que vou aproveitar as férias se resorts de verão são sobre ir à praia, ao mar, à piscina, nadar, atividades aquáticas, etc?

Para ser honesta, eu até estava bastante contente porque consegui aproveitar mesmo bem os primeiros dias, e isso deixou-me com uma mente positiva. No entanto, também falando a verdade, a primeira manhã com a menstruação, aquela hora em que vou à praia, foi um pouco difícil - fiquei triste com o facto de não poder ir ao mar e divertir-me com o meu pai e a minha irmã. Mas os dias seguintes passaram-se bem. 

Se quiserem saber a história completa, digam-me, mas eu já estou mais ao menos a prepará-la.

Because I don't want you girls to get sad either, I'm going to give some advices, ideas and also tricks so you can enjoy your holidays in case this also happens to you.

The obvious one is, well, wear tampons, that makes you life a bit easier. But if you are like me, and find it really uncomfortable and to be honest I don't like the though of it one bit, that's not really an option, however, there is still hope.

Before anything I want you to remember 3 things, that are more or less advices: first, don't get demotivated. Seriously, there is no need for that because you can do so much more stuff than you think; second, I know it can seem a bit selfish, but try to come up with things to do with your family or the people you are going to, it's going to make it easier and I pretty sure they don't mind it too much taking a bit of their time on the beach to be with you on another activity; third and last, really consider as well making this your time, where you can be with yourself and built that confident alone time - I know it's a bit contratory to the previous one, but we also don't want to ruin it for the people, and sometimes they need that reassurance.

Uma vez que eu também não quero que vocês, meninas, fiquem tristes, vou partilhar convosco alguns conselhos, ideias e também truques de forma a conseguirem aproveitar as férias no caso de vos acontecer o mesmo.

A mais óbvia é, bem, usem tampões, torna a vida um pouco mais fácil. Mas se vocês são como eu e acham-nos demasiado desconfortáveis e honestamente nem gostam de pensar nisso, esta não é bem uma opção, porém, ainda há esperança.

Antes demais quero que se lembrem de 3 coisas, mais ao menos conselhos: primeiro, não desmotivem. Sinceramente, não há necessidade para isso porque existem muitas mais coisas para se fazer do que imaginam; segundo, pode parecer um pouco egoísta, mas tentem arranjar coisas que junta toda a família ou as pessoas com quem vão. Vai tornar a experiência muito mais fácil e tenho quase a certeza que eles não se importam de tirar um pouquinho do tempo de praia deles para estarem contigo noutra atividade; terceiro e último, considerem também tornar este o vosso tempo, onde podem estar com vocês próprios e construir aquela confiança em estar sozinho - sei que vai um pouco contra o que disse anteriormente, mas também não queremos arruinar a viagem para os outros, e às vezes eles precisam dessa garantia que tu estás bem.

Now, in terms of what to do. It will always depend on where you are, but the ideas I'm going to give are some of the most base ones, since where I was didn't have much to see near the resort, and the hotel itself was lacking some stuff. So I think you can only get more stuff to do and not less from these.

Right away, one of the things you can do is, obviously if you like it, and I totally prefer to do this in the morning, workout. Any type. Go for a run, try out the resort gym, you can do yoga or meditate at the beach, maybe just go for a walk on the beach. These options are such great starters of the day.

Secondly, try to explore the place where you are. Again, the location where I was in Chiclana didn't have much, but not only I needed to go out to be aware of that, but honestly there's always some interesting things, for example I was very intrigued by the caminos name's, like they give names to every little road. 

Thirdly, think about joinning some of the activities they have. Every resort I've been to, always have tons of gathering events, some are in the pool, but they also have some others like dancing/ zumba. Also, enjoy everything that the resort has to give, mine had an arcade.

Fourthly, and this may seem a bit odd, but focus on one of your hobbies. You will have more time so why don't, for example, draw some of the sceneries or write about some of the things happening. You can also listen to music.

Fifthly, play a lot of games. Come on, you are in the most amazing environment to play games, such as all the diffentes types of card games, UNO, truth or dare, mimics, trivia, you name it. All of these while grabbing a bite or a drink.

Sixthly and last, please don't stop going to the beach, there is so much to do there beyond going for a swim. You can touch your toes in the water, play games, do sports, read, build sandcastles, explore the ravines around the beach, etc. And for the pool, just like I did, still go to the sun loungers to get that vitamin D and read a book.

Agora, em termos de o que fazer. Vai depender de onde estão, mas as ideias que vos vou dar são as de base, visto que o local onde estava também não tinha muito à sua volta, e até o próprio resort tinha algumas coisas em falta. Sendo assim, penso que apenas conseguem encontrar mais coisas e não menos do que estas.

Logo, uma das coisas que podem fazer é, obviamente se gostarem, e prefiro totalmente fazer isto de manhã, treinar. Qualquer tipo. Podem ir correr, experimentar o ginásio, fazer yoga ou meditar na praia ou simplesmente dar um passeio por lá. Estas opções são uma boa maneira de começar o dia.

Em segundo, tentem explorar o sítio onde estão. Outra vez, o local onde estava em Chiclana não tinha muito à volta, mas não só eu precisava de ir ver para estar ciente disso, mas também honestamente existe sempre algo interessante, por exemplo, eu fiquei intrigada com os nomes do caminos, tipo eles dão nomes a todas as ruas, todinhas.

Terceiramente, pensem em juntarem-se a algumas atividades que eles preparam. Todos os resorts em que estive tiveram sempre montes de eventos de grupo, alguns são na piscina, mas eles também têm outros como dança/zumba. Aproveitem igualmente tudo o que eles têm para oferecer, no meu resort havia uma arcada.

Quarto lugar, e isto pode parecer estranho, mas foquem-se num dos vossos hobbies. Irão ter mais tempo, por isso porque não, por exemplo, ir desenhar algumas das paisagens ou escrever sobre alguma coisa que está a acontecer. Podem ouvir música também.

Em quinto, vão jogar jogos (passa a redundância). Estão no ambiente perfeito para jogos, como todos os diferentes tipos de jogos de cartas, UNO, verdade ou consequência, mímica, trívia, existem tantos. Todos estes enquanto comem alguma coisa ou a beber algum cocktail.

Por último, sexta ideia, não deixem de ir à praia, por favor. Há tanta coisa para se fazer lá para além de nadar. Podem ir molhar os pés, brincar na água, jogar algum desporto, ler, fazer castelos na areia, explorar as ravinas à volta da praia, etc. E na piscina, tal como eu fiz, continuem a ir para as espreguiçadeiras para apanhar essa vitamina D e leiam um livro.

To end this post with some secrets, I have one or two tips for you:

- In case you don't know, while you are in the water, your period does not flow as much. Because of the water pressure you experience a reduction in your flow, so a lot of the times there's not any leakage, just a tint in your swimsuit. 

With that being said, let me tell you what I did. For three days I did not go to the water because the flow is quite high, for me, in those days, but once it reduces, I can see that by the way it's filling the pads, I decided to go into the sea. But I did two things: I chose a black swimsuit, black because if there was a stain it was not very visible, and a swimsuit because it snuggles better; and I also left my normal panties underneath the swimsuit, so that way I had an extra layer, and they didn't bother me at all.

For me it worked. I was able to enjoy a full morning, untill lunch, at the beach without any leakage running down my legs and without getting the towel dirty. And believe me, I stayed there getting sun showers for quite some time and I even sat down after the beach to get a drink, and still not stain left behind.

Para acabar esta postagem com alguns segredos, tenho para vocês uma ou duas dicas:

- Caso não sabiam, enquanto se está na água, o fluxo menstrual não é muito forte. Devido à pressão da água, todas experienciamos redução no fluxo, por isso muitas vezes não existe fugas, apenas uma corzinha no fato de banho.

Com isso dito, deixem-me dizer-vos o que eu fiz. Durante os três primeiros dias eu não fui de todo à água devido ao fluxo ainda ser forte, para mim, mas assim que ele começou a reduzir, e consigo ver isso pela o preenchimento do penso higiénico, decidi ir ao mar. Contudo fiz duas coisas: escolhi um fato de banho preto, preto porque se houver mancha não será visível, e um fato de banho em vez de biquíni visto que aconchega melhor o corpo; e também deixei as minhas quecas normais por baixo do fato de banho, porque assim tinha uma camada extra, e não me incomodaram nada.

Para mim resultou. Consegui desfrutar a manhã inteira, até ao almoço, na praia sem qualquer escape a escorrer pelas minhas pernas e sem sujar a toalha de praia. E acreditem que estive ainda algum tempo a apanhar banhos de sol e ainda cheguei a sentar para beber um aperitivo depois dos mergulhos e não deixei nenhuma "pegada".

 I don't know if you are like me, but sometimes, when I'm choosing the outfits and clothes I'm going to bring to a certain trip, I tend to associate the city or town I'm going to with some colours or specific styles. For example, Mexico reminds me of the colour green. Or like this trip I went to last month, Chiclana, Spain, I associate it with light colours. Honestly, this time was harder because I didn't know the city that well. 

Even though most of the outfits are light coloured, some are not because I also need to spicy it up with my own style.

Eu não sei se são como eu, mas às vezes, quando estou a escolher a roupa para as viagens, eu tendo a associar cores ou estilos às cidades ou países. Por exemplo, o México faz me lembrar a cor verde. Ou esta viagem que fui o mês passado, Chiclana, Espanha, eu associei a cores claras. Honestamente, desta vez foi mais difícil porque não tinha uma ideia pré-concebida da cidade. 

Mesmo assim, a maioria dos outfits eram claros, alguns não são porque eu quis dar-lhes um toque mais meu.

Monday (day of the car trip) | Segunda-feira (dia da viagem)

From all of the looks, honestly, this one is the less stylish. I guess I really went for the saying "comfort is key". We woke up super early, around five in the morning, so before anything I wanted to be comfortable for the 6 hour car ride. So basically I just went for some pattern pants, jeans were not ideal, and a white sport top because it was hot, but nonetheless I wore a white shirt because in the morning is still a bit chilly.

De todos os visuais, falando a verdade, este é o menos estiloso. Acho que foquei-me mesmo na frase "conforto é a chave". Acordámos mesmo cedo, por volta das cinco da manhã, por isso acima de tudo eu queria estar confortável nas 6 horas de viagem. Basicamente escolhi umas calças com padrão, de ganga não era o ideal para mim, e um top de desporto básico porque estava bastante calor; mesmo assim vesti uma camisa leve branca porque de manhã está sempre um pouco mais fresco.

Tuesday | Terça-feira

Maybe this type of look is not what you are expecting from me, but this combination is definitely what you imagine when you think of a summer look - jeans shorts, a simple strap top, tropical colours and overall a relax vibe. I decided that for the second night, it would be perfect because I feel put together but not too much since I'm still trying to fit in. It's basic but effective.

Talvez este não seja o look que vocês esperam de mim, mas está combinação é definitivamente aquela que imaginamos quando pensamos em verão - calções de ganga, um top simples, cores tropicais e de forma geral um vibe relaxado. Decidi que para a segunda noite, este seria perfeito uma vez que me sinto bem arranjada mas não em demasia, sendo que ainda estou a tentar ambientar-me. Básico, mas eficaz.

Wednesday | Quarta-feira

Speaking freely, this outfit was my favourite. I felt sexy and powerful. Again, it's not super out there; to be fair it's a whole black outfit with a hint of blue, but it does the job so well. I also recognize that it's not very summer, but for a night out I think it works. It gives a certain edgy touch to the summer and that's fun. Also the look is comfortable and overall simple. And yes, I used sandals with socks.

Falando abertamente, este conjunto é o meu favorito. Senti-me sexy e poderosa. Outra vez, não é assim muito arrojado; sinceramente é apenas um outfit todo preto com um toque de azul, mas faz muito bem o seu trabalho. Também reconheço que não é o mais veronal, mas para a noite não fica mal. Dá um certo arrojamento ao verão e isso é divertido. Para além de que é confortável e no geral simples. E sim, utilizei sandálias com meias.

Thursday | Quinta-feira

I've been really trying to use this dress more. I like it a lot, but I find the piece a bit difficult to work with, I don't know why. So, this look went a bit all over the place. I knew I wanna some gold jewlery with it and then I thought heels would look nice, and it did but it wasn't me. Therefore I went with my usual toms (more pratical), but because I looked so small and cute, I decided to use my bangs to my advantage and make everyting more messy. Not super happy with it, though.

Eu ando mesmo a tentar usar mais este vestido. Eu gosto bastante dele, mas eu acho esta peça difícil de combinar, não sei porquê. Então, este visual ficou um pouco por todo o lado. Eu sabia que queria acessórios dourados e ainda pensei usar saltos, mas isso não seria muito eu. Sendo assim, optei pelos meus toms (mais prático), mas porque senti que estava muito fofa e pequena, decidi estilizar a minha franja e dar assim um ar mais desarrumado. Não estou super contente, contudo.

Friday | Sexta-feira

If the other one is my favourite, this one is a close second. I mean, it defines my style perfectly. A nice midi skirt, a band tee, some gladiator ankle sandals, gold jewlery and hair out of my neck. I would say that this one is the most tropical stylish outfit. I even risk saying that it's one of my best truly summer outfits. It could be more breeze, but for the night it really works.

Se o outro era o meu preferido, este está logo atrás. Vamos lá ver, define totalmente o meu estilo. Uma saia midi, uma t-shirt de bandas, sandálias pelo tornozelo de gladiador, joias douradas e cabelo fora do pescoço. Eu diria que este é o mais tropical e com estilo. Até arrisco a dizer que é um dos mais verdadeiros ao verão. Podia sim ser mais fresco, mas para a noite funciona.

Saturday | Sábado

On this day we went to one of the tematic restaurants and also watched the show playing - magic and acrobatics - so I decided that this look worked perfectly. It gives a formal but at the same time cheerful vibe - I look grown up to be fair. I will say that it was a bit too hot for pants, I was sweating a little bit, but I had to endure it. If it was now I would probably go for some more formal shorts. But the colours lilac and brown complemented each other really well.

Neste dia, fomos a um dos restaurantes temáticos e assistimos a um espetáculo - magia e acrobacias - por isso achei que este look seria apropriado. Dá um ar formal, mas ao mesmo tempo juvenil - pareço adulta honestamente. Vou dizer que as calças tornaram-se demasiado quentes, estava a suar um pouco, mas aguenta-se. Se fossa agora, provavelmente, escolheria uns calções formais. Mas as cores lilás e castanho complementam-se muito bem.

Sunday | Domingo

Last night at the resort, I had to finish it with a bang for certain. But it was also an outfit that I slightly changed last minute to be more my style. I did not planned to use the sandals but the previous (saturdays) shoes, but I felt that it was too much for me. And the sandals were way more comfortable. This dress is something else, but I believe it is important you have a piece like this for certain occasions. It's my rock sexy look.

Última noite no resort, e eu tinha que acabar com o bang. Mas também foi um visual que mudei ligeiramente no último minuto para ser mais o meu estilo. Eu não planeei usar as sandálias, mas sim os sapatos anteriores (de sábado), no entanto achei que era demasiado para mim. E as sandálias era muito mais confortáveis. Este vestido também é qualquer coisa, mas eu acredito que é necessário uma peça como esta para certas ocasiões. É o meu visual rock-sexy.

Monday (final day) | Segunda-feira (último dia)

Final day. It's an outfit I like to use all the time and I do. It has a city vibe, with a touch of beach form the red hawaiin shirt. That day was very hot, so it was difficult to wear a black denim dress and higher socks, but I also knew I was going to be most of the time in the car and arriving at Portugal it would already be a bit late, so thinking about it now, it worked nicely. And I felt confident in it.

Último dia. Este é um outfit que eu gosto de usar em qualquer tempo e uso. Tem um ar citadino com um toque de praia devido à camisa vermelha. Naquele dia estava imenso calor, por isso foi um pouco difícil usar o vestido de ganga preto e meias mais altas, mas como também sabia que ia estar algum tempo dentro do carro e que quando chegasse a Portugal já seria um pouco tarde, e pensando sobre isso agora, funcionou bem. E eu senti-me confiante. 

 I’m aware that not everyone is able to go to resort for holidays, specially with the all-inclusive - which was my case. If you have been, though, in an all-inclusive type resort you probably know that everything you do is in the hotel, they have everything there and you don’t need to go out. Even the beach is only 3 minutes away on foot. Obviously I don’t have always the same experience, but for the majority of times, my daily routine is very similar.

Eu estou ciente que nem toda a gente tem a oportunidade de ir para resorts de férias, especialmente com tudo incluído - o que foi o meu caso. Se já estiveram, no entanto, num resort de tudo incluído, provavelmente sabem que o hotel está equipado de forma a fazerem tudo lá, não é preciso sair. Até mesmo a praia é a 3 minutes de distância a pé. Obviamente que eu não tenho sempre a mesma experiência, mas maioritariamente, a minha rotina diária é bastante semelhante.

Around this hour I’m already geared up and ready to go. When I do go to the gym, I take some advantage of it because they have several weights and machines. This year I focused more on my run, to be honest, and that I do outside, usually 10km - I learned that I don’t love running on a treadmill - and focused as well on trying 5kg weights or 10kg, depending on the exercise. 

If you are curious about what I do while on holidays, it’s very basic, nothing to fancy and I go by reps not by time. I divide by cardio, upper body, legs, booty and abs.
